Black Rock hens are a hybrid originating from crossing Rhode Island Red and Barred Plymouth Rock varieties. They are especially popular as garden hens, and are known as hardy birds that will lay around 230 or more eggs a year at her peak of lay.

She is a slightly larger bird than the Lohmann Brown, but she looks magnificent with glossy black and auburn feathers.
